SHARON MADSEN, 78, of Lapeer, died Friday, May 4, 2018 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.

Sharon Lee Kearney was born September 6, 1939, in Lapeer. She is the daughter of the late Clem James and the late Myrtle Effie (Carpenter) Kearney. She grew up in Lapeer. Sharon married Harry J Madsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Madsen, in 1993.

She was employed by Oakdale Regional Center for Disabilities as a patient attendant for 30 years before retiring.

Sharon loved to read and watch western movies. She was a big poker fan and loved to play poker with her sisters and the boys.

She is survived by three sons, Kurt Owen of Imlay City, Keith Owen of Lapeer and Kevin Owen of Lapeer; her stepson, Clay Madsen; two stepdaughters, Patty Taylor and Hope Murphy; and her three sisters, Rose (Joe) McCory of Lapeer, Mary Hauxwell of Attica and Eileen Hale of Marlette.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Madsen; stepson, Rod Madsen; and her brother, William Kearney.

A memorial is taking place Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Lapeer Masonic Lodge, 1685 N. Saginaw St., Lapeer. Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City.
