DONALD LEE DEITCH, 70, of Attica, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.

Don was born May 6, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa. He is the son of the late Edwin Don “Bob” and the late Carol Loraine (Keeney) Deitch.

Don grew up in Adel, Iowa (30+ miles from Des Moines). Don was a graduate of the Adel High School, Class of 1966. Don served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1966 1970 at Otis Air Force Base, MA. He worked on the Structural Pavement Maintenance at the airbase. He married Bertha Irene Chaput on July 5, 1969 in Moosup, CT. After military service, they moved back to Des Moines, where he worked at the Ford - Implement Plant, Des Moines, IA. When it closed, they moved in 1973 to Imlay City. He worked at the Ford Tractor Plant in Romeo, which became the Ford Engine Plant in Romeo. When Don retired, he was connected to the Engine Repair and Dyno-Lab as a Technician

Don is survived by his wife, Bertha “Bert” Deitch of Imlay City; four sons, Steven Deitch of Caro, Michael (Brooke) Deitch of Brown City, Dennis (Elly) Deitch of Imlay City and Terry (Kimberli) Deitch of Coldwater. Also surviving are a sister, Tammy Coulter-Deitch of Lapeer; and nine grandchildren, Taylor Deitch, Lauryn Deitch, Maisie Deitch, Keegan Sager, Kole Sager, Ashlee Brown, Matt (Nicole) Brown, Justin (Savannah) Brown and Lee Brown.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Carol Deitch; and a sister, Marilyn Deitch.

Interment of Ashes and Veteran Services is taking place Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 1 p.m., at Great Lake National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly.
