HAROLD VANHORN, 83, of Washington Township, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Crittenton Hospital of Rochester.

Harold Lewis VanHorn was born April 23, 1934, in Goshen, IN. He is the son of the late Lewis R and the late Dorothy J (Young) VanHorn. He grew up in Des Moines, IA, and attended school there.

He married Shirley Jean Haywood on June 23, 1951 in Indianola, IA. They lived in Des Moines, IA, before moving to Romeo, MI, in 1973.

Harold was employed by Ford Motor Company as an industrial engineer at the Ford Tractor Plant in Des Moines, IA, and in Romeo for 47 years before retiring in 1998. He is a former member of the Romeo Masonic Lodge.

Harold is survived by his wife, Shirley VanHorn; two daughters, Ann (Donald) Boley of Birmingham, IA, and Gail (Allan) Luscomb of Attica; three sons, Harold (Nichole) VanHorn of Pleasant Hill, IA, Steven (Patrice) VanHorn of Elkhorn, WI, and David (Mary) VanHorn of Dryden; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kay (Robert) Bullard of Pleasant Hill, IA, and Linda (Luther) Young of Des Moines, IA.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Kenneth VanHorn and Roger VanHorn.

The funeral was held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City. Pastor Bill Love officiated. Interment followed at Attica Township Cemetery.
