Deerfield Twp. Fire Dept. to host ‘Breakfast with a Firefighter’ June 7

DEERFIELD TWP. — On Sunday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to noon Deerfield Township Fire Dept. at 30 E. Burnside Rd. will host “Breakfast with a Firefighter.” The breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice, water and coffee.

This is the fire department’s second annual Breakfast with a Firefighter, although they did host the breakfast in previous years.

“We used to do the breakfast for years and years, and then nobody showed up,” said fireman Paul Will. “We started it up again last year and had a phenomenal turnout. We had about 800 people show up.”

Will and the rest of the department are hoping for at least a couple hundred more people to show up to the breakfast this year.

Adults are $7, children ages 6-12 are $4 and children 5 and under are free.

All proceeds will benefit the Deerfield Fire Association and go toward purchases for the fire department that are not included in the yearly budget, and to raise money for annual public events.

Parking for the event is available in the rear parking lot off of Burnside Road.

Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be station and truck tours, and an opportunity to meet your local firefighters and help support your local fire department.

“This is a great community event that the people seem to love,” Will said.

A flier for the event is available online at http://www.deerfieldtwpfiredept.com/upcoming-events.html.
