Almont: The Lady Raiders made the trip over to Greater Thumb Conference-East rival Sandusky on Tuesday and wound up getting dropped, 52-23. Almont hosts Algonac for a Blue Water Area Conference matchup tomorrow. — M.S.

Dryden: In Genesee Area Conference-Blue competition, the Lady Cardinals lost to Atherton at home on Tuesday, 48-23, despite eight- and six-point performances from Brianna Marsh and Lauren Savarino, respectively. Kayla Worley was also on her game for Dryden with four points and 14 rebounds, Bret Schenkel pulled down eight boards and scoring two each were Ashley Lowney and Rachel Johnson. The Lady Cardinals host Genesee today. — M.S.

Faith: The Falcons defeated Christian Leadership Academy, 39-31, Monday. Holly Shepard had 12 points, five assists, seven rebounds, a block and three steals, Tina Caputo added nine points, nine rebounds, and a steal and Kayla McKee eight points, seven rebounds, a block and two steals. Allison Kelly had four points and five boards. — L.P.

Lapeer East: The Lady Eagles have yet to win a game and their record dropped to 0-18 on Tuesday with a 64-22 Flint Metro League loss to Swartz Creek. The Dragons scored consistently throughout the contest, while East was only able to score a double-digit quarter in the third with 11 points, but were held to just one and two points in the first and fourth quarters, respectively.

Alexis Whatcott scored the majority of the East points with 14, six of which came from three-point land. Sam Engster tossed in five points, while Taylor Prusatis scored two, and Paige McDonald recorded one. East will be back in conference action on Friday hosting Flint Kearsley. — B.P.

North Branch: The Lady Broncos dropped a 58-15 decision to Frankenmuth in a Tri-Valley Conference-East game Tuesday. Ariel Skinner led North Branch with five points. The Broncos will visit Birch Run for another TVC-East game tonight. — D.N.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Almont: In what may have been the biggest Blue Water Area Conference game of the season, the Raiders took down the league favorite Imlay City Spartans, 63-59. The Spartans led by five following each of the first two quarters before the Raiders began to swing the momentum in the third frame, taking a six-point edge. Almont was able to hold off the Spartans in the final stanza, who put up 25 points in the quarter. Almont was led by Cody Gelinski with a game-high 18 points, while Lucas Voss had 17 points. John Finn picked up eight points. The Spartans were spearheaded by Ben Rodak's 17-point night. The Raiders now await a BWAC contest on Friday when Almont welcomes Algonac. — B.P.


Dryden: The Cardinals dropped a 54-32 decision to Atherton in a Genesee Area Conference-Blue game Tuesday at home. Dryden was within 13-12 after one quarter, but Atherton pulled away with a 16-1 second period. Andrew Quni and Tony Gjonai led the Cardinals with seven points each. — D.N.

Faith: The Falcons upped their record to 29-0 with a 66-53 win over Christian Leadership Academy o Monday. Jonah Byers had 19 points, five assists, eight rebounds and five steals, Mark Gabryel had 13 points, 11 assists and three steals and Jason Scheps 16 points, two assists, eight rebounds, three blocks and four steals. Stephen Owen had eight points, six rebounds, two blocks and a steal, and Luke Gabryel had six points, two assists, six rebounds and two steals. — L.P.

Lapeer East: The Eagles hosted Swartz Creek on Tuesday and fell behind early en route to a 64-30 defeat. Aaron Hirsch led East with 13 points, while J.T. Pillars added six. The Eagles host Kearlsey tomorrow and travel to Oxford on Tuesday. — E.H.

North Branch: A trip to Frankenmuth on Tuesday for a Tri- Valley Conference-East matchup resulted in a 67-22 defeat for the Broncos, who were led by Trevor Marceau with nine points. Travis Kukkola also made his mark for North Branch with four points, Corey Franks scored three and posting two points apiece were Curtis Garza, Garrett Bradley and Jacob Young. The Broncos welcome Birch Run tomorrow. — M.S.
