Health, safety classes offered by Red Cross
LAPEER — Learn lifesaving CPR, AED and First Aid skills from American Red Cross health and safety courses this month.
On Wednesday, July 23 and 30, Adult CPR/AED, Child/Infant CPR and First Aid Courses are offered from 5-9:30 p.m. at the former National City Bank Building, 220 W. Nepessing Street.
A variety of course combinations are available. Cost ranges from $36 for just Adult CPR/AED to $64 for all course components. The fee includes materials. Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training is included with Adult CPR. — R.A.

Diabetes control topic of workshop
MARLETTE — People with diabetes, their family and friends are invited to attend an empowering presentation, free, at Marlette Regional Hospital from noon-1:30 p.m. on July 29.
It will include a testimonial of one person’s success in taking control and conquering several common challenges associated with diabetes.
It will take place at new East Campus Community Conference Room, 2861 Main St.

Red Cross Blood drives
LAPEER — Donors and potential donors are asked to consider donating during this low summer period. Platelets, a component of blood used to help cancer patients, are also needed.
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and present a valid state-issued photo ID or Red Cross donor card. To find a drive, eligible blood and platelets donors are asked to call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit www.redcrossmichigan.org.

Babysitter’s Training offered by Red Cross
LAPEER — Become the best babysitter on the block by learning how to supervise children and infants at the Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. ( bring a bag lunch) on Saturdays, Aug. 2 and Aug. 23
The course includes child and infant CPR and First Aid and is open to those from 11-15 years old. The $63 course fee includes the Babysitter’s Training Handbook with CD-ROM and Babysitter’s Training Emergency Reference Guide.
